Vision 2020

The increased life expectancy of the population would necessarily increase the incidence of cancers, heart diseases, diabetics etc. The changing Socio economic scenario in the Union Territory would also result in increase in the number of deaths due to traffic accidents and accidential / sucidal poisons.

Any further progress in the reduction of Crude Birth Rate (CBR), Crude Death Rate (CDR), Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) would essentially require thrusts in the implementation of Reproductive and Child Health Programme including Immunization and also immediate treatment of road traffic accidents by improving and effective supervision of preventive and curative health care in the Union Territory. Accordingly, these thrust areas are proposed to be further strengthened with effective supervision and monitoring. The vision of the department is to achieve the goals set for the years 2010 and 2020 and are as detailed below -
