Typhoid Fever

  • Caused by bacteria salmonella typhi.
  • Occurs as sustained fever, severe headache, tiredness, splenomegaly, slowing of heart beat (Bradycardia), rose spots on the trunk.
  • Transmitted by contaminated food and water.

Prevention:

  • Proper hand washing and other personal hygiene.
  • Drinking of chlorinated, purified and boiled water.
  • Control of flies.
  • Using latrines for defaecation.
  • Vaccination is also available.
