- Caused by bacteria salmonella typhi.
- Occurs as sustained fever, severe headache, tiredness, splenomegaly, slowing of heart beat (Bradycardia), rose spots on the trunk.
- Transmitted by contaminated food and water.
- Proper hand washing and other personal hygiene.
- Drinking of chlorinated, purified and boiled water.
- Control of flies.
- Using latrines for defaecation.
- Vaccination is also available.
